PM Modi, Amit Shah to visit Assam for poll prep

Assam's ruling BJP enters election mode. On December 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make two trips to Assam.

At the end of this month or during the first week of January, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to travel to Assam. Assam is probably going to hold assembly elections early next year.

The Prime Minister's visit, according to Sarma, will "herald a new wave of development" in Assam. "Assam is all set to welcome Adarniya Shri @narendramodi ji on 20th December as he will herald a new wave of development in the state.”

Reviewed preparations for his welcome and the marquee activities which will take place during the visit," the governor wrote in X.

The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport's new terminal building will be officially opened by the prime minister. In Guwahati, Modi is probably going to speak at mass gatherings.

Additionally, he will speak at a public gathering at Namrup and lay the foundation stone for a new brownfield ammonia-urea complex with an annual capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes.

Sarma stated on Thursday that the BJP is nearing the end of its election preparations. "We are virtually done preparing who will run and who will attend the campaign.

We will complete everything when Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrives at the end of this month or early next month. "We have not discussed the election in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) because council polls were held recently and there is no atmosphere now," he stated. We'll begin discussions in January.

There are two regional parties in BTC. In September of this year, the Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) swept back to power in BTC and joined the NDA. The council's ruling United Peoples' Party-Liberal (UPPL) was overthrown. It is included in the NDA as well.
