The Chief Secretary of Assam recently chaired a #highlevel review #meeting to address #statelevel reform initiatives linked to central incentives across key industries under the "#Scheme for Special #Assistance to States for #Capital #Investment, 2025 26."
Here, this came to light. The meeting was attended by senior officials from line departments, including the #Transportation Department, #Environment & #Forest, #Agriculture, #Revenue & #Disaster #Management, #Housing & #Urban Affairs, and #Mines & #Minerals.
The meeting's main focus was on state level reform programs connected to #central #incentives in important industries.
The talks made clear that, if changes are carried out promptly, Assam may be able to get more than Rs 1,800 crore from the Indian government this year.
The Mining Sector Reforms (Part V) were the department's main focus. Assam qualified for a Rs 100 crore incentive because it met four of the seven requirements under the minor mineral reforms.
According to the Mines and Minerals Department, the state successfully put five limestone blocks up for auction, with two of those blocks expected to be operationalised by December 2025.
The Transport Department wants to claim about Rs 150 crore of the Rs 226 crore allotted for the Scrapping of Old #Vehicles & Road Safety Enforcement (Part VI), with proposals totalling Rs 50 crore already sent to #MoRTH.
More incentives are expected to be claimed by December, after approximately 800 government vehicles were demolished. It was announced that new Automated Testing Stations (ATS) are being established in Jorhat, Biswanath, Dibrugarh, and North Salmara.
The Revenue Department estimated claims for Modernisation of Rural Land Records (Part VII-A) to be Rs 201.64 crore.
