Regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump has once again lambasted Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying the Russian leader "let me down" and implying that stopping oil drilling could be crucial to bringing the conflict to an end.
Trump claimed that higher oil output will lower costs and "automatically stop the war with Russia and Ukraine" while speaking at the American Cornerstone Institute's Founders Dinner in Mount Vernon."I am really disappointed in President Putin," he remarked. Every week, between 5,000 and 7,000 people pass away.
During a news conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, Trump expressed his frustration once more.
"He has disappointed me. He's murdering a lot of people, but he's losing more people than he's killing, really.
"To be honest, the number of Russian soldiers being killed is higher than that of Ukrainian soldiers," he stated.
Looking back on the war, Trump maintained that if he had stayed in office, the war would never have happened.
"If I had been president, this would never have occurred. It would never have occurred if I had been president.
And it took four years for it to occur," he remarked. "The majority of people concur that it didn't occur or even came close to doing so."
Trump also recollected his diplomatic attempts with Putin, pointing out that no peace agreement was reached despite a conference in Alaska where he urged the Russian leader to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.
"I discussed Ukraine with President Putin, and he was very happy about it. I've said it a lot, but he would never have done what he did unless he didn't respect the US leadership," he continued.
He added that Putin did not respect President Joe Biden's leadership, and that his absence from the White House contributed to Russia's invasion in February 2022.
Trump said that by lowering their dependency on Russian energy, European countries may have an impact on the conflict. "Russia will settle if oil prices decline," he stated.
