Netanyahu halts Gaza ceasefire talks to speak with PM Modi



According to The Times of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interrupt a security cabinet meeting that was debating a truce and a deal for the release of hostages under US President Donald Trump's 20 point Gaza Peace Plan.

PM Modi complimented the Israeli PM on the advancements made under US President Donald Trump's Gaza Peace Plan during the discussion.

"Prime Minister Modi congratulated Prime Minister Netanyahu on the agreement reached for the release of all the hostages," Netanyahu's office said in a statement.

"Call my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump's Gaza peace plan," Prime Minister Modi later said in a post on X.

We applaud the deal to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza population and free the hostages.

Reaffirmed that no matter where it occurs, terrorism in any form is condemned.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just spoke with the Prime Minister of India," the Israeli Prime Minister's Office also wrote on X.

Prime Minister Netanyahu received congratulations from Narendra Modi on the arrangement reached to free all of the captives.

According to CNN on Thursday, the Israeli government has approved a truce and a deal for the release of hostages as part of US President Donald Trump's 20 point Gaza Peace Plan.

This comes after Netanyahu met with ministers after first calling a meeting of Israel's security cabinet to consider the decision.

The Israeli Prime Minister's office declared early Friday morning that "the government has now approved the outline for the release of all the hostages the living and the dead," according to The Jerusalem Post.

CNN reports that officials have said the truce will go into place immediately.

In addition, US President Donald Trump's son in law, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff, his special envoy to the Middle East, attended the Israeli cabinet's meeting in Jerusalem where the government voted on the ceasefire agreement mediated by the United States.
