Trump has stated that he is stepping up pressure to bring an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine

After his efforts to secure a truce with Russian President Vladimir Putin failed, US President Donald Trump declared Thursday that Washington and NATO allies were "stepping up the pressure" to end the war in Ukraine.

When questioned by an AFP reporter if he would step up efforts for a deal, Trump responded, "Yeah, we are stepping up the pressure," in the Oval Office during a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

Together, we're stepping it up. All of us are stepping forward. "NATO has been fantastic," he continued.

Trump mediated a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza this week, but he has stated that the conflict that was triggered byRussia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine is becoming more difficult to resolve.

Russia's attacks on Ukraine have intensified since Trump hosted Putin in Alaska in August without achieving a breakthrough.

Following the summit, Russia declared on Wednesday that the momentum toward a peace agreement in Ukraine has essentially disappeared.

Following the agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, Stubb expressed confidence that Trump could negotiate a deal on Ukraine.

Telling reporters, "I think this one will be the next big one," Stubb said.
