Paves way for lasting peace PM Modi hails first phase of Trump's Gaza plan lauds Netanyahu

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced optimism for "lasting peace" and praised the agreement on the first phase of US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza.

After two years of continuous hostilities between Israel and Hamas, the agreement was reached.

Praise for Netanyahu's "strong leadership," PM Modi tweeted on X: "We welcome the agreement on the first part of President Trump's peace initiative. This also demonstrates PM Netanyahu's capable leadership.

"We hope the release of hostages and increased humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will alleviate their suffering and pave the way for enduring peace," he continued.

Trump had declared on Truth Social earlier in the day that the agreement between Israel and Hamas was the first step toward "a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace."

"I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan," President Trump wrote on Truth Social, announcing the first phase of the peace agreement for Gaza.

This indicates that Israel will withdraw its troops to a predetermined line and free ALL of the hostages in the near future as the first steps toward a solid, long lasting, and permanent peace.

Everybody will be treated equally! We are grateful to the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey who collaborated with us to make this historic and unprecedented event possible.

Today is a GREAT DAY for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, the neighboring nations, and the United States of America. The peacemakers are blessed.
