PM Modi to inaugurate Navi Mumbai Airport on Oct 8 Adani oversees preparations

This month, the long awaited second airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will finally open.

It will eventually surpass the current Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in terms of traffic handling capacity.

On October 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, toured the project site before of the inauguration to thoroughly examine and inspect the last preparations.

"The imprint of thousands of hands and hearts is present on every runway, terminal, and gate here."

Gautam Adani declared, "This is more than just an airport; it is a monument to the spirit of Bharat, built by its people, for its people."

The chairman of the Adani Group conducted a thorough inspection of the airport during his visit.

When it is completely operational, it will be able to accommodate 9 crore passengers a year, making it one of the biggest and most sophisticated airports in the world.

In addition to evaluating operational preparedness and technical advancement, Adani met engineers and project teams, talked with construction workers to learn about their experiences, acknowledged the vital role that firefighters play in safety, and spent time with employees with disabilities at one of the terminal's retail locations.

After being inaugurated, flights will begin at NMIA within a week to 15 days.

In the first month, there will be 60 flights each day (30 arrivals and as many departures); after 30 days, the number will double, and in six months, it will reach 240–300.

The greenfield airport will initially accommodate 400 daily flights with a capacity of 2 crore people annually (CPA), which it will increase to within a year.

From the very beginning, we want NMIA to operate both domestically and internationally.

Both will undoubtedly begin in the same month (October) if that does not occur for whatever reason.
