Wholesale attack on democracy in India Rahul Gandhi in Colombia

During an interview at EIA University in Colombia, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, charged that the national administration, which is led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, was launching a "wholesale attack on Indian democracy."

In retaliation, the BJP denounced him as a "Leader of Propaganda" and chastised him for "once again" disparaging Indian democracy abroad. Given that India is home to several religions, customs, and dialects, the attack on democracy there poses the greatest risk of all.

And in reality, India is a dialogue among all of its citizens, and many customs, faiths, and viewpoints demand room. And that the democratic system is the most effective way to create that space.

And the Indian democratic system is currently being attacked in its entirety," Rahul stated on Thursday. "This other big risk is risk between different conceptions, different parts of the country, right?" he remarked, comparing the political systems of China and India.

There are about sixteen to seventeen different languages and religions. Therefore, it is crucial for a nation like India to support these various cultures and give them room to express themselves.

We cannot repress people and maintain an authoritarian regime as China does. That is simply not acceptable to our design. Rahul was criticized by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla for making such claims overseas.

"Rahul Gandhi acts like the Leader of Propaganda once more, attacking Indian democracy while traveling overseas! He wants to fight the Indian state, after all! In a post on X, he stated, "From Sena to Judiciary to Sanvidhan to Sanatan, there are times when the US and UK should step in and handle our affairs."
