China's cybersecurity agency made its latest attempt to link significant assaults to the US by accusing the US government of planning the theft of roughly $13 billion worth of Bitcoin.
One of the biggest cryptocurrency thefts in history occurred in December 2020 when 127,272 Bitcoin tokens were taken from the LuBian Bitcoin mining pool.
The Chinese National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center claims that the breach was probably a "state level hacker operation" headed by the United States.
One of the biggest cryptocurrency thefts in history occurred in December 2020 when 127,272 Bitcoin tokens were taken from the LuBian Bitcoin mining pool.
The Chinese National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center stated that the quiet and delayed transfer of the stolen Bitcoin reflects a government level action rather than ordinary criminal behavior, suggesting that the hack is probably a "state level hacker operation" led by the United States.
The report, which was released last week, connects the stolen Bitcoin from LuBian, which used to be one of the biggest Bitcoin mining companies in the world, with tokens that the US government seized and claimed were connected to Chen Zhi, the chairman of the Prince Group, a Cambodian conglomerate. In October, the US accused Chen of running a money laundering operation and participating in a conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
