In response to a complaint saying that "only halal processed meat" is given in non vegetarian meals, which amounts to "violations of human rights" and "unfair discrimination," the NHRC has sent a notice to railways.
The case further claims that the practice in trains denies equal chances and livelihood rights to members of Hindu Dalit groups who have historically worked in the meat trade.
Additionally, the complainant claims that Hindu and Sikh travellers freedom of choice is impacted by the lack of food selections that align with their religious views.
