Norway wealth fund to vote for human rights report at Microsoft

At the next Microsoft annual general meeting, Norway's $2 trillion wealth fund announced on Sunday that it would vote in favor of a shareholder resolution that calls for a report on the dangers of doing business in nations with serious human rights issues.

Shareholders were advised by Microsoft management to vote against the measure. The fund also declared that it will vote against CEO Satya Nadella's compensation package and his reappointment as board chair.

According to fund records, as of June 30, the fund held a 1.35% position worth $50 billion in the business, making it the fund's second-largest stock holding overall, behind Nvidia.

According to LSEG data, it is Microsoft's eighth-largest shareholder. At the AGM on December 5, investors in the US tech giant will determine whether to approve the proposed measures.
