"Nine Amrit Bharat Express services are being introduced across key corridors as part of Indian Railways ongoing push to expand affordable long-distance connectivity," an official press release said.
"In keeping with this vision, the Amrit Bharat Express has emerged as a boon for everyday passengers," the statement continued.
According to officials, the service, which was designed as a special offering of the Amrit Kaal, connects areas that are frequently divided by opportunity and geography by offering non AC long-distance sleeper class travel at fares of about Rs 500 per thousand kilometers, with correspondingly lower fares for short and medium-distance travel.
"Thirty Amrit Bharat Express trains have been in service since its launch in December 2023, and nine new services will be added within just one week," the ministry stated.
The services will increase train connectivity from the eastern and sub Himalayan areas to important locations throughout southern, western, and central India, according to the new releases.
Foldable snack tables, mobile and bottle holders, radium floor strips, enhanced seating and berths, contemporary restrooms with electro pneumatic flushing, fire suppression systems, and accommodations for "divyangjan" passengers are just a few of the amenities that the ministry highlighted as being available on the trains. It went on, "Pantry cars and fast charging stations further improve long-distance comfort."
