US attack in Venezuela killed 100 people, minister claims

Diosdado Cabello, the interior minister of Venezuela, stated late on Wednesday that the U.S. attack that overthrew President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday claimed 100 lives.

Although the army posted a list of 23 names of its deceased, Caracas has not yet provided a number for those slain. A significant portion of Maduro's security force was reportedly slaughtered "in cold blood," according to Venezuelan officials, while 32 members of Cuba's military and intelligence services were also killed in Venezuela.

According to Cabello, Maduro sustained a leg injury during the U.S. raid, while his wife Cilia Flores, who was held with him, suffered a brain damage.

On Tuesday, Delcy Rodriguez, the temporary president of Venezuela, announced a week of mourning for military personnel slain in the attack. Cabello called Rodriguez "courageous" during his weekly broadcast on state television.
