Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, praised the release of senior party leader Azam Khan from Sitapur jail on Tuesday.
For him and his family, as well as for others who support justice, he called it a "matter of relief and joy.""The honourable Azam Khan ji's release is a matter of relief and joy not only for him and his family and all of us, but also for all those peopl
e who have faith in justice," Yadav wrote in a post on X. Sincere gratitude to the court for preserving the belief in justice.
He stated that those who brought "fake cases" against Khan have now realised that "every lie has an expiry date and so does every conspiracy," referring to the ruling BJP.
The former chief minister went on to say that Azam Khan would continue to support the downtrodden and the ignored and serve as a symbol of "emotional unity" as he pursued the fight for social justice using socialist principles.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav reaffirmed his appreciation for the court and hoped that the state's BJP government will refrain from bringing any more "false cases."
"Azam Khan, the head of the SP, was released from prison. For this, I am grateful to the Court.
The Samajwadis had faith that the Court would administer justice. "We hope that the BJP will not commit injustice or file false cases in the future," he said.
Azam Khan has been instrumental in the SP's protracted battle against the BJP, the party chairman emphasised. He further pledged that a future Samajwadi Party government would drop all "false cases" against Khan, similar to how BJP leaders have had cases dropped against them.
Shivpal Singh Yadav, a six time Jaswantnagar MLA and leader of the Samajwadi Party, who had come to greet Azam Khan, also criticised the Yogi Adityanath led administration in Uttar Pradesh.
He applauded the court's decision to release Khan on bail, claiming that Khan had been "framed" in fabricated charges.
