In addition to alleging defamatory content, IRS officer and former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede sued Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, and other parties, claiming that Aryan Khan's "Ba***ds of Bollywood" had a "obscene gesture" directed at "Satyamev Jayate."
Damages of Rs 2 crore are sought in the action, which was filed on Thursday. Additionally, it has attempted to label the series officially defamatory and to stop its distribution and streaming.Wankhede argued that the material undermined public confidence in the organisations entrusted with upholding drug laws in addition to harming his own reputation.
Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, and other companies are the targets of the petition.
It claimed that Wankhade was portrayed in their series in a "false, malicious, and defamatory" manner.
"This series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions," the attorney who represents him said.
According to the plea, the show damages public trust in law enforcement organisations by misrepresenting anti drug enforcement organisations.
According to reports, the program violated the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, when a character made a middle finger gesture while reciting "Satyamev Jayate," which is a part of the National Emblem.
The lawyers contended that by inciting national feeling through offensive content, it violated the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Wankhade is requesting Rs 2 crore in damages, which he plans to give to cancer patients at the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital.
