Shopkeepers were instructed to open their establishments after authorities declared that the week long curfew in Leh town would be loosened for four hours starting at 10 am on Tuesday.
Following the conclusion of the final ceremonies for four individuals, including a former Army officer, who perished in the massive skirmishes between demonstrators and law enforcement on September 24, the limitations were loosened for two hours starting at 4 p.m. on Monday.According to a police officer, as the day goes on, a decision regarding whether to further relax curfew bound areas would be made based on the situation that develops.
During the relaxation period, Ghulam Mohammed, the additional district magistrate in Leh, ordered the operation of all grocery stores, necessary services, hardware stores, and vegetable shops.
"No unfortunate incidence was reported from anywhere, with the exception of the violence that occurred last Wednesday.
To uphold law and order, police and paramilitary personnel are heavily present in vulnerable areas and are keeping a close eye on things," the official stated.
Almost every day, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has been the chair of high-level security review sessions.
He called peace "the cornerstone of development" and urged the populace to uphold it on Monday.
"I implore all facets of society to uphold harmony and togetherness and resist the schemes of anti-social and anti-national forces.
"The administration is committed to the people's safety, dignity, and advancement," Gupta had declared.
He also praised the populace for demonstrating incredible self control and dedication under trying conditions, and he pledged to resolve all of their valid concerns through discussion and democratic channels.
In order to improve public confidence in the government, the lieutenant governor also gave explicit instructions for increased intelligence collection, frequent community involvement, and prompt resolution of public complaints.
