"We applaud President Donald J. Trump's declaration of a comprehensive strategy to resolve the conflict in Gaza.
For the Israeli and Palestinian people as well as for the greater West Asian region, it offers a feasible route to long term and sustainable peace, security, and development," PM Modi wrote in a post on X.
Prime Minister Modi expressed optimism that "all concerned will come together behind President Trump's initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace."
Although it is unknown if Hamas will accept the terms, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that they had reached an agreement on a plan to end the war in Gaza.
The GOP leader's strategy for resolving the Israel Hamas conflict, which began on October 7, 2023, includes a 20 point peace proposal meant to stop the fighting and stop the region from getting worse.
The plan calls for the release of captives, the protection of civilians on both sides, and a rapid ceasefire.
In order to guarantee compliance, it also emphasises the necessity of more robust regional collaboration and global oversight.
Trump has maintained that stability can only be restored by a thorough, methodical plan.
Hamas has not yet made a decision regarding the 20 point proposal. A ceasefire, the disarmament of Hamas, the release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, and a phased Israeli pullout from Gaza are all part of the plan. A post war transitional authority led by Trump himself will then be established.
Netanyahu stated, "I support your plan to end the war in Gaza which achieves our war aims," at a joint news conference with Donald Trump.
"If Hamas rejects your plan, President, or if they supposedly accept it and then basically do everything to counter it, then Israel will finish the job by itself."
Trump declared that if Hamas rejected the agreement, Israel would have his "full backing."
