Indian Railways is set to launch a direct train service between Sairang in Mizoram and Guwahati in Assam.
This new train will be flagged off by Prime Minister NarendraModi on September 13.
The new train service will be operated and maintained by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone.
The Sairang-Guwahati-Sairang Express will run as train number 15610/15609.
It will cover a distance of 494 km in 13:30 hrs. The train will run via Lumding Junction.
During its journey between Sairang and Guwahati, train number 15609/15610 will stop at 11 railway stations.
These are: Bairabi, Hailakandi, Kathakhal Junction, Badarpur Junction, New Harangajao, New Haflong, Maibong, Lumding, Hojai, Chaparmukh, and Jagi Road.
The Sairang-Guwahati-Sairang Express train will run daily. The train will have 17 coaches: AC-2 Tier (One), AC-3 Tier (Four), Sleeper Class (Six), General Second Class (Four), Brake, Luggage cum Generator Car (One) and SLRD (One).
The ticket price for travelling in a Sleeper Class between Sairang and Guwahati is Rs 300. For AC 3 Tier, this comes up to Rs 800 and for AC 2 Tier, it is Rs 1130.
Train number 15610 will depart from Sairang at 19:00 hrs and will reach Guwahati at 08:30 hrs. On the other hand, train number 15609 will leave Guwahati at 19:00 hrs and will arrive Sairang at 08:30 hrs.
The Sairang-Guwahati Express train will transform the regional economy by improving connectivity, boosting travel and tourism industry, employment generation, etc.
