Zubeen Garg, popularly known as Zubeen Da, was a legendary Assamese musician who died on September 19, 2025, in a fatal swimming accident in Singapore.
Assam and the entire country were in mourning after his unexpected death. With hits like Ya Ali and heartfelt Assamese tunes, Zubeen's music shaped a time and won over many Indian hearts.Assam gave him a state-honored send off on September 23. Prior to the last procession to his hometown of Kamarkuchi hamlet in Sonapur, his body remains were brought to Sarusajai Stadium for public remembrance following a second post mortem at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The singer's last trip was marked by the lighting of the pyre by his sister Palmee Borthakur and nephews in front of family, admirers, and leaders.
