Assam and the country are in deep mourning following the death of Zubeen Garg.

The singer, who was a cultural icon and frequently praised as the voice of Assam, tragically died on September 19 in Singapore.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a second postmortem will be carried out on Tuesday in response to popular demands for clarification regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to PTI, in response to requests for clarification from specific Assamese sectors, the second post mortem will be held at Guwahati Medical College Hospital at approximately 7:30 am, overseen by a team from AIIMS Guwahati.


"We have chosen to conduct it with his wife's consent, and it is not a demand from the public but from certain fringe elements," Chief Minister Sarma stated.

"This decision was made because we don't want to stir up any controversy regarding Zubeen," he continued.

"I personally was not interested in 'cutting up his body,' but when a section, even if they are in a minority, demands it,'my personal wish does not matter,'" Arma clarified his personal opinion.

This is democracy He added, "I don't think another postmortem was necessary after the Singapore doctors had done the autopsy because they have more technical expertise, but there shouldn't be any scope for any section to engage in any kind of politics over Zubeen."

The funeral for Zubeen Garg will be held on the outskirts of Guwahati with full state honours after the second post-mortem.

"His final journey will start at 9.30 am instead of the earlier scheduled time of 7.30 am because it will take about two hours in the morning," the Chief Minister stated.

Under Kamarkuchi NC village, preparations are under progress, with family members and authorities working together to make sure the funeral honours his reputation in the community.
