Assam CM warns of strict action if Zubeen Garg's Singapore friends avoid SIT probe

It will "depend entirely on them" whether or not those who were on a yacht in Singapore with singer Zubeen Garg in his last hours return, but Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma warned Sunday that severe consequences would follow if they failed to appear for the SIT investigation by the deadline of October 6.

They will be entirely responsible for their return. On the sidelines of a program in Kokrajhar, the chief minister stated, "We can speak to their parents so that they can ask them to return for the probe, but the Assam government cannot bring them back from Singapore."

According to him, the deadline of October 6 has already been established for everyone who was in Singapore when Zubeen passed away while swimming in the sea.

We'll have to take drastic measures if they don't return by Monday. We'll need to use a certain procedure to get them back," Sarma stated.

Previously, the CM had stated that the investigation could not be finished unless those who were in the yacht with the singer did not give a statement to the investigative agency.

In the meantime, a doctor has filed a report at the Latasil police station, claiming that 11 members of the Assam Association of Singapore were involved in Garg's death. The complaint is being investigated by the police.

Eight of the eleven members of the Assam Association of Singapore have already received summonses from the SIT, which is looking into the singer's death, to appear before it by October 6.

Abhimanyu Talukdar, Tanmoy Phukan, Debojyoti Hazarika, Rupkamal Kalita, Bhaskar Dutta, Siddhartha Bora, Parikshit Sharma, and Wajed Ahmed have all received summonses.

The relatives of those who were called stated that they do not know if the people are coming to participate in the probe.

Everyone is devastated by Zubeen's passing, and we have communicated with them occasionally.

We will undoubtedly be aware if they arrive. A family member who wished to remain anonymous stated, "But they haven't told us anything about it."
