Zubeen Garg death mystery Assam CM questions bandmate judicial panel formed

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, questioned the "poisoning" allegations made by Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, a bandmate of Zubeen Garg

He urged Assamese witnesses in Singapore to assist with the investigation into the singer's unexplained death and urged patience until the viscera report arrives next week.

Sarma told reporters on Saturday that the police are carefully reviewing all accounts, but that the accusation of "poisoning" originated with one of the accused rather than the police.

"The viscera report will arrive on October 10. Therefore, on October 11th, we will learn the truth.

However, the chief minister stated that it is the responsibility of the police to document everything in the case diary.

"Now, what has caused him to say that? "The investigation will reveal whether it's to protect himself or to place the blame on someone else," he continued.

This comes after a remand note disclosed that Goswami claimed that North East India Festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen's manager Siddharth Sharma "poisoned the singer and purposefully chose a foreign venue to hide their conspiracy" in his statement to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Section 175 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

One of Assam's most cherished cultural icons, Zubeen Garg, passed away inexplicably on September 19 while swimming in the water in Singapore.

He was there to play at the fourth North East India Festival, which Mahanta had organized.

According to PTI, Sarma acknowledged the difficulties in the current investigation, pointing out that the Assam Police were unable to conduct an investigation in Singapore and had to rely on witnesses who were on the yacht trip to return and provide cooperation.

"The probe cannot be continued in Singapore since the Assam Police are unable to travel there.

The Assamese community members are in Singapore, and I have no authority over them.

No one will be able to connect the dots unless they come here," he stated.

He called on the public to exert pressure on Singapore's Assamese community members to cooperate with the investigation.
