To pay their ultimate respects to Zubeen Garg, the cherished cultural icon of Assam, political representatives from all parties met at Jorhat Stadium on Wednesday. Atul Bora, the minister of agriculture, was among the first to arrive. In a news conference, Bora asked everyone to join together and offer prayers for the artist's afterlife.
"Zubeen Garg left us thirteen days ago today. He later remarked on social media, "Zubeen will shine among every generation as a huge musical institution forever!" even if he is not physically present. Gaurav Gogoi, the MP for Jorhat and the head of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), also visited and spoke with Garg's family.
"It's still difficult to accept that he isn't here. I occasionally get the impression that he will return to entertain and enchant us. "Time will help us come to terms with his loss, but the things we hear today seem unreal," he said.
Gogoi was escorted to the shraddha by DK Shivakumar, the Karnataka deputy chief minister. Gogoi clarified that Shivakumar wished to honor the singer because Garg also performed in Kannada and Bengaluru has a sizable Assamese diaspora.
"I am here to express my respect on behalf of Rahul Gandhi and the All India Congress Committee," Shivakumar stated. He served as Assam's ambassador. His music and our hearts will always remember him.
People all around the world adore him; he sang in almost 40 languages. He also made a significant contribution to Karnataka.
Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, was also there and gave the artist his respects. "People may not have realized the global footprint he created in music when he was alive," he said, referring to Garg as a "shining star of music in the world."
Tributes are flooding in from all across the world following his tragic passing.
The entire Assamese community is proud of his legacy. Let's get together and preserve his principles.
