The Central Forensic Science Laboratory in New Delhi has sent the viscera report to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is looking into the death of Assamese cultural hero Zubeen Garg on September 18, while he was swimming off an island in Singapore.
Munna Prasad Gupta, the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department's Special Investigation Team (SIT), said reporters in Guwahati on Saturday, October 11, 2025, that the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital had received the viscera report.He stated that the final autopsy report would be sent to the SIT after a committee appointed by the hospital reviewed the viscera report.
He stated, "As soon as we receive the report, we will turn it in to the court and give a copy to Zubeen Garg's family."
Following the second autopsy on Garg at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, the viscera samples were forwarded to the forensic lab in New Delhi.
Prior to Garg's dead remains being cremated on September 23, this post-mortem was carried out.
On September 19, the first autopsy was performed in Singapore.
In response to rumors that Garg might have been poisoned, Mr. Gupta stated, "We will have to wait until the final autopsy report concludes."
According to Garg's bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, the singer composer passed away as a result of being poisoned by his manager Siddharth Sharma and the organizer of the North East India Festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta.
Garg was supposed to play in Singapore at the North East India Festival.
In relation to Garg's death, seven persons have been arrested, including Mr. Goswami, Mr. Sharma, and Mr. Mahanta.
Personal security guards Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya, co singer Amritprabha Mahanta, and Garg's cousin, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandipan Garg, round out the group.
Mr. Gupta added that India's request for an investigation in the island nation of Singapore was being handled by the Singaporean authorities.
The SIT has been under fire from a number of political parties and social media users for not sending a team to Singapore to look into and question some of the individuals who were with Garg in the final hours of his life.
