Trump suggests Fed chair decision could come by year end

The new Federal Reserve chair may be chosen by the end of the year, according to U.S. President Donald Trump. He said to reporters aboard Air Force One, "Maybe by the end of the year, we'll make a decision on the Fed."

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, "We're going to do a second round, and we hope to present a good slate to the president right after Thanksgiving."

Trump advisor Kevin Hassett, former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, current Fed Governor Christopher Waller, Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman, and BlackRock CEO Rick Rieder are among the five candidates that have been selected, according to Bessent.
