Assam: Opposition unites to challenge BJP in 2026 election

Today, eight opposition parties in Assam convened on the grounds of the Assam Assembly and decided to fight together in the 2026 Assembly election.

"The long awaited meeting of the opposition parties took place today," APCC President Gaurav Gogoi stated following the gathering. At the meeting, we discussed our opinions.

We are all working together to free the people from the injustice of the Chief Minister and the mismanagement of the BJP government.

Together, we'll contest the next Assembly election. Jitendra Singh, the Assam in charge and general secretary of the AICC, stated, "We had a successful meeting with our allies."

In order to thwart the BJP government's plans to divide the state and sell its riches, we opposition parties have resolved to fight together in the upcoming Assembly election in Assam.

The opposition parties will band together and drive the BJP out of Dispur. "We agree with what Gaurav Gogoi and Jitendra Singh said," stated MP Ajit Bhuyan. For us, today is historic.

We've made the decision to remove the BJP." In addition to APHLC leader Bikram Hanse, representatives from the AJP, Raijor Dal, Anchalik Gana Morcha, CPI, CPI-M, and CPI-ML attended the meeting.
