According to a senior JD(U) official on Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will step down on Monday to make room for a new NDA government.
It is anticipated that Nitish will preside over the final cabinet meeting of the departing government before going to Raj Bhavan to tender his resignation to the governor.
He would go to the gathering of JD(U)'s 85 freshly elected lawmakers once he returns. The timing and location of the NDA legislators subsequent meeting have not yet been determined.
With 89 lawmakers, the BJP has become the NDA's largest group. On Sunday or Monday, it is expected to make a formal statement about the formation of the government.
Nitish will be chosen by NDA lawmakers as their leader shortly after the BJP's declaration, according to sources. The swearing ceremony will "most probably" take place on Wednesday or Thursday, according to a senior NDA official.
From early in the morning, Patna observed constant political activity at Nitish's residence. Chirag Paswan, the head of the LJP (RV) and a union minister, met with Nitish to talk about the new regime. He was visited by over two dozen key NDA allies, including Union minister Lalan Singh.
On Saturday, the five NDA constituents BJP, JDU, LJP (RV), HAM (S), and RLM started their government-formation exercises.
In New Delhi and Patna, strategic talks continued all day. It is commonly thought that JDU national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha and Union minister Rajiv Ranjan, also known as Lalan Singh, met with Union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi and talked about the new government structure and portfolio sharing.
"Voters in Bihar have said they believe in effective government. "Nitish Kumar is the most trusted person in the state," Jha told reporters.
In addition to Lalan Singh, JDU's Jha, party minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, former minister Shyam Rajak, BJP ministers Nitin Nabin and Krishna Kumar Mantoo, and JDU state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha were among those who paid Nitish a visit. Before heading to the nation's capital to brief Shah, Jha and Lalan Singh had additional conversations with Nitish.
RLM president Upendra Kushwaha and his four MLAs were met by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in Patna. Following the conference, Rai declared that the opposition Mahagathbandhan had been "wiped out" and that the NDA had achieved a "massive victory," attributing the alliance's victory to teamwork.
