Following a meeting with Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Sunday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that three new Amrit Bharat trains will improve railway connection in Assam.
Chief Minister Sarma posted on a microblogging site, "We deliberated on several key issues to expand railway's footprint in Assam to enhance overall connectivity for our people." The introduction of three new Amrit Bharat trains to and from Assam is one of the important initiatives that would significantly improve interstate travel and customer convenience.
Strengthening long distance train communication between important cities is the goal of the Amrit Bharat Express, which is renowned for its contemporary design, increased comfort, and affordability.
A new rail link from Umrangso in Dima Hasao district to Lanka in Hojai district, which will improve accessibility for distant parts of central Assam, was one of the strategic infrastructure measures considered at the meeting in addition to the additional train services.
The accelerated construction of the Kokrajhar Gelephu railway line, which connects Assam with Mindfulness City in Bhutan and is anticipated to create new opportunities for cross border trade and tourism, was another significant event that was mentioned.
In order to facilitate travel across districts, the Chief Minister added that more important train stops would be implemented in Assam. Chief Minister Sarma stated, "The meeting reflects the shared commitment of the state and central governments to ensure that Assam continues to move forward on the path of development."
