The Congress declared that it was dedicated to the INDIA bloc and would double efforts to fortify the national alliance amid the rumblings sparked by the opposition's resounding setback in Bihar.
The INDIA bloc was formed as a nationwide arrangement for like minded parties to coordinate their activities against the BJP's regressive agenda, according to AICC general secretary K C Venugopal.
Since its formation, nothing has changed. Congress is dedicated to India and will work more to increase its effectiveness.
Additionally, the Congress management stated that when the winter session of Parliament begins on December 1, the opposition will continue to coordinate in Parliament.
After the RJD Congress combine was soundly trounced by the JDU BJP coalition in the recent Bihar elections, doubts regarding the future of the opposition alliance have emerged on social media.
Some Congress netas have also said that the party should abandon its ally RJD and proceed independently in Bihar going forward.
The possibility that Congress will run in the next Bombay Municipal Corporation elections independently of the NCP and Shiv Sena (UBT), which are its allies in Maha Vikas Aghadi, has also raised some concerns.
But Venugopal dismissed the rumors. Many Congress netas claimed that the alliance was essential to the party's politics since it would soon compete in Tamil Nadu as the DMK's junior partner and enter the next Assam elections as a member of a coalition that is already being put together.
According to Venugopal, municipal and panchayat elections are local contests in which local units, such as BMC, decide on alliances based on political ground realities.
"But even there, the idea would be to defeat BJP," he stated. Although nothing had changed since the formation of the national coalition, members were aware that there might be divisions in a few states, such as West Bengal and Kerala, according to the Kerala MP, a confidant of Rahul Gandhi.
"In the two states, we will continue to fight independently. However, the broader coalition will continue to exist," he stated.
