Delhi blast probe NIA arrests Kashmir man aiding bomber Umar

 


A Kashmiri resident who plotted the suicide attack at Red Fort last Monday with suicide bomber Umar Un Nabi has been detained by the NIA.

The automobile used in the incident was registered in the name of Samboora, Pampore resident Amir Rashid Ali, who was taken into custody in Delhi.

"Amir had come to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the car, which was eventually used as a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (IED) to trigger the blast," the National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated.

Additionally, the NIA revealed on Sunday that it has forensically identified Umar Un Nabi, a Pulwama district resident and assistant professor in the general medical department at Al Falah University in Faridabad, as the deceased driver of the vehicle borne IED.

According to the anti terror agency, Nabi's other car has also been confiscated. The car is being inspected in order to gather evidence for the case.

73 witnesses, including those hurt in the explosion that shook the nation's capital on November 10, have been questioned by the NIA thus far.

"NIA is continuing its probe across states in close collaboration with Delhi police, J&K police, Haryana police, UP police, and other sister agencies.

The NIA stated in a statement that it is investigating several leads in an effort to uncover the broader plot behind the bombing and identify additional suspects.

In the meantime, three 9mm caliber cartridges two live and one empty were found at the Red Fort bomb site. Police are investigating how the three cartridges were found at the scene of the explosion. According to police, it is forbidden for civilians to use these cartridges.

The detectives discovered talks meant to brainwash other young people, including women, while examining the online communications of the modules.
