Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday (November 13, 2025) that nine additional persons had been detained in Assam for posting "offensive" social media remarks in the wake of the Delhi explosion, bringing the total number of arrests in this regard to fifteen.
Since Wednesday night, new arrests have been made. "In connection with the offensive social media posts following the Delhi blast, 15 persons have been arrested across Assam so far," Mr. Sarma wrote on X.
"In addition to the six arrests made yesterday, overnight, we arrested

2. Forid Uddin Laskar [Hailakandi],
3. Inamul Islam [Lakhimpur],
4. Firuj Ahmed alias Papon [Lakhimpur],
5. Shahil Shoman Sikdar alias Shahidul Islam [Barpeta],
6. Rakibul Sultan [Barpeta],
7. Nasim Akram [Hojai],
8. Taslim Ahmed [Kamrup]
9. Abdur Rohim Mollah alias Bappy Hussain [South Salmara],

Mr. Sarma claimed that Assam Police are unyielding in their fight against individuals who promote violence. On Wednesday, the Chief Minister declared that he had given the police orders to detain anyone who had expressed gratitude for the explosion on social media.
According to him, 35 individuals from various state districts have been identified in this regard. "We will investigate their links and if we find that anyone has links with Bangladesh or anyone other country, we will take very tough action against them," the chief minister stated. Mr. Sarma stated that while minors and people who were not aware that their gadgets were being used to make such posts won't be detained, those who are will.
Many people are currently removing their posts, he said, but "we have taken the screenshots and will be tough in this regard."
He claimed that the same group of people who were demonstrating against the government at Zubeen Kshetra were now posting on social media in support of the Delhi explosion.
Twelve people were killed and numerous others were injured on Monday night when a high-intensity explosion tore through a slow moving car at a traffic signal close to the Red Fort metro station.
