In front of members of the Mayor in Council, council members, the GMC Commissioner, and senior Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) officials, Mayor Mrigen Sarania officially opened the Ganeshguri Street Redevelopment Project on Thursday, giving Ganeshguri, one of the city's busiest commercial centers, a significant makeover.
In an area that is well known for its heavy traffic and high foot traffic, the project represents a major step toward increasing mobility, enhancing public spaces, and creating a more structured urban environment.
Mayor Sarania stated during the inauguration that the redevelopment would reduce traffic and help create a cleaner, more pedestrian friendly environment.
Improved walkways, more efficient traffic patterns, greater lighting, improved drainage, and aesthetic improvements are all part of the redesigned section.
The project, according to GMC officials, is a component of a broader urban regeneration strategy that aims to make important city junctions and marketplaces more effective and citizen friendly.
Locals and business owners applauded the idea, hoping it would lessen chaos, increase sales, and enhance commuters and tourists overall experience.
