Trains collide in the Czech Republic, injuring dozens

 


Dozens of people were hurt when an express train and a passenger train crashed in the southern Czech Republic on Thursday, according to officials.

Around 6:20 a.m., an accident occurred close to the city of Ceske Budejovice. According to the area emergency agency, 57 people had primarily minor injuries, although two had significant ones.

However, a Ceske Budejovice hospital subsequently reported that five of the patients it admitted had severe injuries. It was anticipated that traffic between Plzen and Ceske Budejovice would not start up again until the afternoon. The cause of the collision was being looked into by the authorities.
