Vivek Ramaswamy, an American politician and businessman of Indian descent, has received support from US President Donald Trump in the 2026 Ohio gubernatorial contest.

Truth Social had a strong endorsement from the President, who described him as "young, smart, and strong." Trump highlighted Ramaswamy's character, background, and policy agenda while praising him as the candidate Republicans should support, calling Ohio a state he "loved" and "won big three times."

Trump wrote, "Vivek Ramaswamy is running for Governor of the Great State of Ohio, a place I love and won big, three times, in 2016, 2020, and 2024." Trump wrote, "I know Vivek well, competed against him, and he is something SPECIAL." He is intelligent, strong, and young! Additionally, Vivek is a wonderful person who genuinely loves our nation.

"As your next Governor, Vivek will fight tirelessly to grow the economy, cut taxes and regulations, promote Made in the U.S.A., champion American energy dominance, keep our now very secure borders secure, stop migrant crime, strengthen our military and veterans, ensure law and order, advance election integrity, and protect our always under siege Second Amendment," Trump continued, praising the 39 year old former presidential candidate's leadership style. Ramaswamy "will be a Great Governor of Ohio" and "will never let you down," according to Trump, who declared his "Complete and Total Endorsement."

On November 6, 2026, Ohio will hold its governor's election. The Ohio Republican Party endorsed 39 year old Vivek Ramaswamy, a native of Cincinnati and a former co-chair of Trump's Department of Government Efficiency effort, for governor in May of this year.

The race is still quite open, though. Both parties are interested in Ohio's forthcoming governor's election since Republican Governor Mike DeWine is scheduled to step down.

Article, recent surveys indicate that Democrat Amy Acton, the state's former health director, is either statistically tied with Ramaswamy or slightly ahead.

Ramaswamy's team has dismissed the surveys as politically motivated, while Acton's campaign characterizes her as a clear alternative to a "billionaire Washington insider."

The biotech pharmaceutical company Roivant Sciences was founded by Indian politician Vivek Ramaswamy, who was the youngest contender for president in 2024.

Despite being a US citizen by birth, his support for the federal legalisation of marijuana and the abolition of birthright citizenship were among his controversial beliefs.

In addition, he faced criticism for referring to climate change as a "hoax" and stating that "more people are dying of bad climate change policies than they are of actual climate change." Ramaswamy and surgeon Apoorva Tewari are parents to two kids.
