Over 1.3 lakh voters whose names did not match in the BLO application and those marked unmapped in the app but mapped in the hard copy of the 2002 electoral roll should not receive a notice for a hearing, according to a new notification sent by the Election Commission on Monday to the DEOs and DMs in West Bengal.
"BLOs may be sent to the field, take a photo with such an elector and the same may be uploaded along with the hard copy of the electoral roll," the warning reads.
According to the instruction, errors had occasionally appeared during the conversion of the PDF of the 2002 election roll because of technological difficulties.
As a result, some voters were unable to match the linkage in the BLO application. "These electors are marked unmapped, though they have either self or progeny linkage with the hard copy of the 2002 electoral roll as authenticated and provided by the DEOs and published on the website of the West Bengal CEO," the notification from the EC states.
