Nadda urges MPs to promote TB-mukt Bharat

On Tuesday, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda called on MPs to step up their efforts for the TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, emphasizing their responsibility to track developments, increase awareness, and lessen stigma in their communities.

Officials informed MPs on campaign activities and expectations from elected representatives during a special meeting, the first of a series that focused on Uttar Pradesh.

Nadda emphasized that India’s TB incidence has reduced 21% from 2015 to 2024 (237 to 187 per lakh population), about double the global decline of 12%, while death has dropped from 28 to 21 per lakh.

MPs were also briefed on critical interventions, including AI-enabled chest X-rays, Truenat testing, shorter treatment regimens and decentralised TB care via Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

He urged MPs to assist in making the eradication of tuberculosis a Jan Andolan, calling for increased community mobilization and more thorough screening.
