Assam's fifth general election of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is now over, with the BPF, led by Hagrama Mohilary, winning the poll for the fifth consecutive year since 2005.
Twelve of the 40 seats in the BTC are in the #Kokrajhar district. In these 12 constituencies, elections were run by 100 candidates.
Of these, one candidate ran from Parbatjhora, forty three from Kokrajhar, and forty-eight from Gossaigaon.
This time around, 316 candidates ran in five districts under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR): Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa, and Tamulpur.
The BTC election polling was held on Monday, September 22. As the current Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro, President of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), faced competition from the Assamese ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the lead up to the elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hosted a number of election campaign rallies in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
