In the 126th episode of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to legendary Assamese musician Zubeen Garg.

Zubeen has a strong bond with Assamese culture, according to PM Modi.

"People are in mourning for Zubeen Garg's tragic death. Zubeen Garg was a well known vocalist who left his impact on the nation.

He was well rooted in Assamese culture. Generations to come will be enchanted by Zubeen Garg's music, and he will always be remembered," he stated.

"Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg," PM Modi wrote earlier this month in his condolence message.

His significant contribution to music will live on in memory. People from all walks of life were huge fans of his versions. His admirers and family have our deepest sympathies. Om Shanti.

After allegedly drowning, Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19.

At the crematorium, Zubeen received a gun salute.

His unexpected death is currently being investigated. In accordance with Section 61(2)/105/106(1) of the BNS, 2023, the CID, Assam, has filed a case (number 18/2025) in relation to Singer Zubeen Garg's suspicious death.
