At 35,000 feet, US President Donald Trump made time for a brief stand up. The president used his position as a TV presenter midway through his Asia tour onboard Air Force One, joking about a period of turbulence and how the "liberal media" would undoubtedly claim he had "the shakes."
"I have to tell you, these winds are quite severe in Asia. This is a difficult flight. People will be observing Trump and commenting, "He didn't look too good, he's got the shakes!" In midair on Air Force One, Trump spoke to reporters.
Trump's midair joke drove X (previously Twitter) into a frenzy, with supporters praising his sense of humor and detractors pointing to a more serious issue. A user on X wrote, "Even the turbulence knows it can shake the plane, but not Trump’s confidence!"
"Trump turning turbulence into a standup routine, thats the type of confidence you cant fake," a another person said.
"The fact that President Trump sits there making jokes and talking to journalists and looking better than ever is a gift," remarked a different person going by the handle Peter B. Incredible. A man who raises good children and has a good family is someone I always trust. He did.
Roseanne Ragosta observed, "Trump runs circles around them all even in rough skies."
Others took advantage of the occasion to make fun of the president. "He's an insane fascist, who is literally evil, but I sort of get how stupid people watch something like this and like him," said X user @JimJones69_.
He is an extremely skilled con artist. In fact, he seems me as a friendly and typical person. Given that they used the BlueSky handle @pystcat.bsky.social as their X account, another user likely a liberal added, "Grandpa has a lot more than the shakes." His erratic rambling is a sign of cognitive problems.
Trump's quip was timed perfectly, as he had his second yearly check up at Walter Reed Medical Center earlier this month.
The president acknowledged earlier in his journey to Asia that he had received an MRI during his most recent hospital stay. It occurred at the beginning of April, following his yearly check up with doctors.
The president was described as having "excellent cognitive and physical health" in a document written by the White House doctor at the time.
The 79 year old president's chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a common ailment among the elderly that raises the risk of blood clots, was disclosed earlier this year.
However, Trump didn't seem to be worried about his health or planning to cut back on his manic habits anytime soon. In an early October speech to Navy sailors, Trump boasted that Ronny Jackson, his former White House physician and member of the White House medical staff under the Bush and Obama administrations, repeatedly complimented his health.
