At a state level event conducted at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Friday, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced the "Prerona" scheme, a comprehensive initiative aimed at offering Class X pupils holistic support.
Speaking to students from a variety of educational institutions, the Chief Minister emphasized that exams shouldn't cause anxiety and stated that the administration is constantly working to assist students in "finding rays of hope in life." "Exams are just a way to advance in life," he continued.
For the first time in Assam, 4.40 lakh HSLC candidates under the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) and Class 10 CBSE students registered in Adarsha Vidyalayas would receive a monthly stipend of Rs 300 for four months from the state government. Beginning in November, the money will be deposited straight into the bank accounts of the students.
In addition to helping kids buy books, study tools, and wholesome food, the program aims to improve mental health, raise confidence, lower dropout rates among low income and rural students, and increase the overall pass rate in Class 10 exams.
Dr. Sarma highlighted Assam's quickly changing educational landscape and stated the government has been trying to make sure that no child's education is hampered by budgetary limitations.
He cited the opening of new universities, medical schools, engineering schools, and teacher recruitment as indicators of a changing landscape in higher education.
"Assam's future human resource is its students. They will be inspired to follow their aspirations if we can eradicate hopelessness and foster optimism," he stated.
The Chief Minister also highlighted current welfare initiatives including free admission, bicycle distribution to girls in Class IX, and monthly financial aid of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 for female students enrolled in higher education under the "Nijut Moina" plan. He also mentioned that the administration is thinking of giving Class V kids bicycles.
Dr. Sarma cited Mahatma Gandhi when he stated that building equality in society requires education. He pointed out that the state is creating an industrial environment in addition to offering more than one lakh government jobs through an open process.
The semiconductor manufacturing unit at Jagiroad, the thermal power plant in Dhubri, the ethanol project at Numaligarh Refinery, and the ammonia urea project at Namrup are just a few of the significant upcoming projects he mentioned. He claimed that these projects will help Assam become a state "full of hope and confidence" in the coming years.
The Chief Minister wished HSLC and Class 10 candidates well and stressed the value of regular, organized study schedules while advising them not to worry about exams.
For instruction, he also advised them to watch the Prime Minister's "Pariksha Pe Charcha" program. Senior government officials and dignitaries, including MPs Dilip Saikia and Bijuli Kalita Medhi, as well as Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, attended the occasion.
