The Uttar Pradesh government was criticised by Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday for the death of a journalist who had recently covered the liquor mafia and was killed in what authorities claimed was a car accident. The Yogi Adityanath administration was accused of "nurturing jungle raj" by the Congress general secretary.
Sulabh Srivastava, a 42 year old news channel reporter, was killed on Sunday when his motorcycle struck a pole close to a brick kiln in Sukhpal Nagar, which is in the Kotwali police station area of Pratapgarh, according to the police.
From Aligarh to Pratapgarh, the liquor mafia has killed people all over the state. In a Hindi tweet, Priyanka Gandhi stated, "The government is silent."
"Journalists expose the truth and alert the government to the risks." She said, "The government is asleep." Priyanka Gandhi questioned whether the administration that is "nurturing jungle raj" had any solutions for the grief of journalist Sulabh Srivastava's family.
Recently, Srivastava published a news article criticizing the local liquor mafia. Then, on June 12, he sent a letter requesting protection to the Prayagraj additional director general of police.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Dwivedi, Srivastava perished in an accident on his way back from Asrahi village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Lalganj police station, after reporting on the discovery of an illicit arms production facility there.
After the collision, Srivastava was sent to the district hospital with serious injuries, where medical professionals pronounced him dead, he added.
