At a city hotel here on Monday, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya officially opened the eighth session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs in an effort to safeguard consumer health and advance ethical food trade standards.
In his inaugural speech, Governor Acharya emphasized India's long history of growing and trading spices, noting that the nation has long been renowned for its healthy climate and fertile soils, both of which are conducive to the production of medicinally valuable spices.
