During its meeting today, the state cabinet made a number of measures, most notably requiring geography and history classes for kids in grades 6, 7, and 8.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the media following the cabinet meeting, saying, "The Justice (retd.) Biplab Kumar Sharma high-level committee on implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord had recommended that history and geography subjects be made mandatory for students of classes 6, 7, and 8 in Assam."
The curricula for these subjects were accepted by today's cabinet. Exams with a total score of 50 will be required of students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Both topics were previously part of the social science course. Although the students workload will increase by 100 points, they will gain a great deal of knowledge about geography and history.
"We, the Government of Assam, had requested the Government of India for the greenfield Doloo airport," the chief minister added.
Our government is currently awaiting the central cabinet's decision on this. The Assam government was asked to turn over the land for the airport by the Airport Authority of India.
Therefore, the cabinet today authorized the transfer of 3,000 bighas of Doloo Tea Estate land that our government had already purchased."
He added that a new Sainik school, estimated to cost Rs 335 crore, will be built at Longvaku, in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. "The administrative approval for the school's formation was granted at today's cabinet meeting.
The central and Assam governments would work together to establish the school, with an 80:20 funding ratio. For the construction of the Sainik School at Longvaku, tenders have already been issued.
The initiative has already received Rs 100 crore from the Indian government. After Goalpara, this will be the second Sainik school in Assam.
Today, the Cabinet approved the distribution of land under Mission Basundhara to 1,200 families. Additionally, the Assam Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2025 was approved by the Cabinet.
The goal of the initiative is to make Assam a significant hub for logistics. The Assam Government and Dassault Systems India Pvt. Ltd. were given permission by the Cabinet to establish a collaborative initiative at Assam Engineering College.
The project, which will be built over 5,000 square feet at a cost of Rs. 243 crore, will provide courses on electric vehicles, automobiles, and aerospace and defense. Dassault Systems India Pvt. Ltd. will invest Rs. 200 crore, and the Assam government will pay Rs. 43 crore.
Additionally, 884 people received compensation from the Cabinet for land they acquired in the Dima Hasao district during the construction of the four-lane National Highway.
The chief minister stated, "This entire program is sponsored by outside government agencies," in reference to Monday's Post Malone event in Guwahati.
At first, we believed that our government would provide funds, but thanks to a number of private donors, the Assam government no longer needs to do so.
The majority of the money has been gathered through sponsorship, though we might have to contribute a minor sum. The concert is being organized by BookMyShow.
"Singapore Police will submit its charge sheet on December 18, but the Assam Police will submit the charge sheet on December 12," the chief minister stated on the charge sheet in Zubeen's death case. Only after viewing the charge sheet will people comprehend what truly transpired in Singapore.
