South Africa hostel shooting kills 11

Eleven people, including a three-year-old kid, were killed when gunmen raided a hostel in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, on Saturday, according to authorities. The attack is the most recent in a series of mass shootings that have stunned the 63 million-person nation sick of violence.

Athlenda Mathe, a police spokesperson, stated, "I can confirm that a total of 25 people were shot," adding that 14 had been taken to the hospital.

According to her, ten people had perished at the site in the Saulsville Township, which is located 18 kilometers (11 miles) west of Pretoria, and another had passed away in a hospital.

Around 4:30 am (02:30 GMT), three shooters broke into the building and opened fire on a group of men who were drinking. The incident also claimed the lives of a 12-year-old and a 16-year-old. It was a very regrettable event.

This event wasn't reported to the police until about six o'clock, according to Mathe. No one had been taken into custody, and the shooting's motivation was unknown.

The most industrialized country on the continent, South Africa, is battling entrenched corruption and criminality that is fueled by organized networks.

Although there are significantly more illicit firearms in use, many people have licensed firearms for personal defense. Police statistics show that between April and September, over 63 individuals were killed every day.
